Default question on sorting ?

In a typical worksheet....if you sort on two or three columns...will all
data and formulas also sort accordingly. ? If so what's the best way to
return to the original layout when your done with the above ?

are formulas in a column of date affected by sorting ?

These may be pretty simple questions...but I personally have no idea what
excel is doing sometimes when functions/sorts, etc...are run ?

Thanks, Tim

Default sorting

Yes, the sorted celss will carry the formulae as well as the data. Use
caution if you sort only a selection of the data, but excel will warn you in
a dialog box. All references will be retained.

You can return to the original with "undo", but if you're unsure or if you
have too many steps to undo, you should take a backup copy.

Experiment a little until you're comfortable with what's happening.

Tim
You can always create a reference column the numbers your cells in order.
When you are finished sorting for the information you need, sort they
reference column in Ascending order to get your original sheet restored.
When you no longer need the reference column, delete it.
