Opening Excel file issue?

Any time I open an Excel file (Excel not running) I have to minimize the
application and it will automatically resize then actually open the selected
file.
If I do not minimize the application the file will not opened. I can
reselect the file again and again with no results.
If Excel is running, no problem.
