excel trendline label error

if i plot the following data

1 100,000
2 200,000
3 300,000
4 400,000 etc
as a scatter graph and draw a linear trendline through it. the equation
tells me the line is y = 10,000 x when it should be y = 100,000x . If i
format the label and choose any format under number OTHER than general, i get
the right answer, even choosing "TEXT as the format gives me the right
answer, but the default formatting for the number is "General" and it wont
give the right equation if the coefficient has more than 5 digits

any suggestions? i know i can go and change the format on each graph i draw
but id like the default format give me the right answer straight away, or be
able to change which format is default

thanks

I can replicate this bug in Excel 2007.

Suggestion: Wait for Office 2007 Service Pack 1. Maybe it will be fixed.

thanks for the reply Mike,

i guess waiting for SP1 is the only answer. bit worrying though when you
cant trust the equation.
