Default Closing Excel spreadsheet

While searching for toolbars I was previously able to view (I got them back)
I must have reformatted something to where I now have to close the
spreadsheet I'm working on (after I save changes/updates) by first clicking
on the X in the right hand corner of the window and then also go to - file -
then exit. This last step I never used to have to do. How can I get it back
to how it was set up before? I want to close my spreadsheet by one click only
like before.

Thanks in advance for your help!
