Copying spreadsheet with fonts and patterns

I am trying to copy a spreadsheet and am pasting it into a new worksheet. In
the process I am losing the fonts and patterns. How do I copy the spreadsheet
exactly with the fonts and patterns in tact???

Thanks!

I highlight the cells I want to copy and then do an Edit == Copy

I try to close the worksheet I'm copying from and I am prompted with the
message that says...

There is a large amount of information on the clipboard.

I then open a New excel workbook and try to Paste and the fonts and
formatting are NOT coming over.

This seems too stupid. I promise I'm not.

What happens if you hold off closing your "sending" workbook until you paste?

Edit|copy
Edit|paste
(close sending)

If that doesn't work...

New workbook
swap back to sending
edit|copy
swap to new
edit|paste
swap to sending
close sending
