Row and Column Headings Format

The font on the row and column headings on some of my worksheets have a
strikethrough on them. The default sheet does not have this.

I tried a solution I found in this discussion group. It is:
Format - Style... - Modify - Font tab
Change to desired for column headings and row labels.
OK - OK

Following these instructions, with the affected sheet open, causes it to
hang up and has to be ended.

I am using XP with Excel 2003.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Row and Column Headings Format

The column & row font is taken from the font in the active workbook's Normal
style. It appears that you are following the correct steps to fix this,
though you don't specifically mention the Normal style. The strikethrough
and hanging app is a little suggestive of a corrupted file.

See if you can select all the sheet tabs, right click, and follow the menu
prompts to copy them to a new workbook. If you can do that, maybe your issue
will disappear and you can save the new workbook and delete the old workbook.
