How to make a blank cell to automatically copy what is above
I have an excel report in which if the value of cell or a number of cells
below are the same as above, then it is left blank. I want to know if there is formula I can apply to the whole column so that if there is no value in any cell, it automatically enters the value from the cell above, but do not alter if a cell has any values |
How to make a blank cell to automatically copy what is above
Try this
Select the range to be impacted (from the column heading through the last blank cell that *should* have a value) <edit<go to ......Click [special] ......Check: Blanks ......Click [OK] Now only the blank cells are selected. WHILE THEY ARE SELECTED.... Type =.....press the UP ARROW key........Hold down the [Ctrl] key and press [Enter] Now every blank cell will reference the cell above it. If you need values instead of formulas... Select the range <edit<copy <edit<paste special....Check: Values........Press [enter] Does that help? -------------------------- Regards, Ron Microsoft MVP (Excel) "Lukshmi B" <Lukshmi wrote in message ...
