can't save newly opened files

I am using Excel2000 on Windows2000.
Recently when I want to save a newly opened excel file, it gives the
following error message:
Invalid file name to save.
I try many simple names but non of them solve my problem.
I am able to save only with template format.
It has no problem saving the files which already exists but can't save newly
opened ones.
any help is highly appreciated.

Hi
just a guess: Try cleaning your temp directory, reboot your PC and try
again
