Excel 2002: Can I protect the whole file in a single step ?
 

Dear Sir,

I know how to protect a worksheet (page) at a time by going to Tool
Protection Protect Sheet Enter Passwords Twice.

If I have a file with 20 worksheets, may I know what is the shortest way to
protect the entire file with a password ?

Also the above protection feature is to prevent someone from editing or
deleting the entries.

When If I save the file in the shared drive or even my personal drive, is
there a way to prevent the file from being deleted intentionally or
accidentally with a password ?

I would appreciate very much if you could provide me with the helpful
information in this area

The simplest way is, after having finished your work in the file click
on File, Save as, and then in the window that pops up click on tools
and general options. Here you will have two options, one is to give
the user read only access and the other is to allow opening of the
file only if the correct password is supplied.

Helo tc,

I entered password for the two purposes as you mentioned.

However, I can still open the file witout having to key in my password. I
can also amend the file without having to key in my password.

May I know why ?
