text to date when exporting from access to excel

hi,
Ihave exported a table to excel from access. There is a column which looks
like this "18/12", "23/10" etc. It is defined as text in access and i can't
change that. When i exported it in excel, it kept this format but when i try
to change it (format cells-date-some format(e.q. 01-oct) ) it doesn't do
anything. The funny thing about it is that whenn i double click in a cell to
edit it, it automaticly changes to the desired format. There are a lot of
data and i can't do it one by one. Has anyone got any ideas.

thanks

text to date when exporting from access to excel

Try Data/ Text to columns/ Delimited/ Next/ Next, then at step 3 of 3 select
column data format as Date: DMY, and finish.
