Excel 2002 : Can I fine tune the Subtotal Table ?
 

Dear Sir,

Currently I find that there are some lackins in the Subtotal Table (i.e.
Data Subtotals .

The Subtotal heading is in bold but not the number, and there is no blank
rows between each group of data. This make reading more difficult and the
data less presentable.

Manually bolding the Subtotal figure and adding one empty row is tedious and
time consuming,

May I know is there a way to set the table to present the result in the
format I wanted ?

Hi Low,

To bold the entire line of the subtotal, including the number, collapse the
subtotals select the range of data, then use Alt + : this will select the
specific visible lines, you can then format it as you please, you can bold
the entire line, add color, etc.
I am not sure on how to add the extra line though.

Hello NPM,

I tried your method, however when I customised the subtotal lines say in red
font, when I expand it back, I find that all the detail figures also get the
same format.

Is there any other way to do this ?

Hi Low, I think you are selecting the entire area including the details,
hence the format is getting applied to the complete area. U need to select
only the visible cells, "ALT;" is to be used , let me know if it works, if
not pls lemme know & Il find a way to send u a example excel sheet showing
this.

Hello NPM,

I tried €œALT€�, but it could not work.

Surprisingly now when I generate the Subtotal Table the Sub Title Total has
been shifted one column left.

I think MS might have modified the program lately. This enable me to format
it easily and use copy paste special to put it back to its original position.

To modify the Sub Total Amount I used =IF formula to get the figure on the
column to its right and format it.

However I still need to manually insert an empty row to make the table more
presentable and easy reading.

After formatting my Sub Total Table look something like this:

A B C D E
1 A11 IV14162 200
2 A11 IV14163 300
3 A11 IV14164 400
4 A11 Subtotal 900 900
5 B12 IV14166 500
6 B12 IV14167 200
7 B12 Subtotal 700 700
8 C13 IV14169 600
9 C13 IV14170 200
10 C13 IV14171 300
11 C13 Subtotal 1100 1100
12 Grand Total IV14173 2700 2700

Formula at E1 and copy down to get subtotal : =IF(C1="",D1,"")

Could you show me how to do by using €œALT€� key ?
