Does not open file
When I try to open Excel workbooks, worksheets, spreadsheets, or any of my
Office Documents associated with Excel from shortcut, my pc, search, browser, exlorer, etc, Excelwill start but does not open file. All I get is a blank window (not a wkspc) within the Excel program. To open the file, I must browse with Excel to same location I tried to open from originally. This happens with local file or a network shared file and just started happening, as I never had this problem in the past 3 yrs. No new programs have been installed that I can recall, no others have been on either PC. Have tried all I know to do and now seek assistance. |

Try the usual fix(es) for this problem.
ToolsOptionsGeneral uncheck "Ignore other Applications" Exit Excel and try again If this doesn't work try to re-register Excel Close Excel first and On the Windows Taskbar 1) StartRun "excel.exe /unregserver"(no quotes)OK. 2) StartRun "excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK. See the space between exe and /regserver You might have to designate a full path to excel.exe. In that case StartRun "C:\yourpath\excel.exe /regserver"(no quotes)OK. Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on
the file in windows explorer: Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it) --- or --- Close Excel and Windows Start Button|Run excel /unregserver then Windows Start Button|Run excel /regserver The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's factory defaults. Maybe one of these will work for you.
