I recently reinstalled Windows XP PRO SP2 and Office XP Small Business
Edition SP3. After that I noticed that double clicking on a XLT file just opens Excel, but doesn't create an XLS file based on the template. This is only happening on the user's account, there's no problem on the administrator account. I even made the limited user member of the Administrators group, but no luck. I reinstalled Office without upgrading to SP3. Same thing... Any idea? Thank you |

This is a common response when the user has trouble double clicking on a .xls
file. Maybe it'll work for your user for *.xlt files. ==== Sometimes one of these works when you're having trouble with double clicking on the file in windows explorer: Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it) --- or --- Close Excel and Windows Start Button|Run excel /unregserver then Windows Start Button|Run excel /regserver The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's factory defaults. Maybe one of these will work for you. Daniel wrote: I recently reinstalled Windows XP PRO SP2 and Office XP Small Business Edition SP3. Unchecking "Ignore other applications" did the trick.
Thank you. Daniel "Daniel" wrote: I recently reinstalled Windows XP PRO SP2 and Office XP Small Business Edition SP3.
