I would like to create a reconliiation of income and expenditure where I can
press a button (or choose from a drop-down menu) and the numbers automatically will convert to their equivalent in Euros or US$. Is this possible in Excel? |

Select cell A1 on a worksheet then Data|Import external data|Import data select MSN MoneyCentral Incvestor currency rates.iqy The sheet will fill with all the latest exchange rates which cna be referenced for your conversions. Yes, it's possible in Excel.
The simplest way, but which doesn't meet the button or drop-down menu criteria, is to put the exchange rate in a common cell (say A1). In all your calculations, you simply multiply by $A$1. If you still want to get more complicated than this, you will need to identify your home currency (ie, what currency has an exchange rate of 1.0000). Is it EUR or USD or something else?
