WHY the same macro runs so slowly on a different but faster comput

This problem kills me!

I have a macro to clear contents of a spreadsheet. When I run it on my slow
laptop, the macro was executed very fast. When I use the macro to clear the
same spreadsheet on my newer and faster desktop, it is amazingly slow. The
usage of CPU by Excel itself is 50%. There is no formula or events inside the
spreadsheet.

Is there any particular with the desktop? Virus? bad memory?

Yes, the same version of Excel 2003. The same macro. The same spreadsheet.
