Getting PERSONEL.xls to open on startup
I have a PERSONEL.xls file that will open on Excel startup on my computer. I
attempt to put this file on other computers in the office, it will not open. I have put it in both places C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\XLSTART C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART and it will not load at start up. does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it to load on other systems? thanks -- Ray |
Getting PERSONEL.xls to open on startup
Why don't you record a little macro on the other PC(s) and store it in
Personal.xls, which will then be created if not already in existence? Then you will be able to search for it to find out which startup forlder it is in. By the way, it is PERSONAL.xls - perhaps you are saving the file with the wrongly-spelt name. On top of Pete wrote, don't put it in two places.
Well, do keep a backup of it somewhere--but don't keep that backup in a location that excel will find to open it. Ray wrote: I have a PERSONEL.xls file that will open on Excel startup on my computer. Getting PERSONEL.xls to open on startup
I discovered that for some reason Excel had DISABLED the PERSONAL.xls file
and if I renamed it would load. then I discovered that on the help about Excel at the bottom of the page is a DISABLE ITEMS button. Click on that and it showed me what do you know PERSONAL.XLS. Now the thing that is interesting is that it is path specific. But it does not show the path in the little window. anyway so much for the system being easy to use.
