Format as ddmmyyyy (or as mmddyyyy, if you prefer).

if you really need it as text
=text(A1,"ddmmyyyyy")
assuming it is days before months if not
=text(A1,"mmddyyyyy")

To actually "convert" to text you will need to Copy the suggested
formatted cell(s) and do a Paste-Special, Values. Then replace the old with
the new.
