Cancel opening messages/phantom link issue

I have a phantom link that i absolutely cannot find. I have tried some
of everything! Is there any way I could just cancel any messages that
are programmed to come up when i open a workbook? - or autmatically
answer no.

(trying to get around always having to answer whether or not I want to
update the information that is linked to another workbook).

thanx

Rather than mask the "links" message, find the links and delete them.

Could be a defined name that is causing the problem.

Download and use Bill Manville's FindLink program:

Tried to delete it and am unsucessful each time. Cannot try the link
below because for some reasons zip files wont work on this pc. I have
tried all 5 recommended steps and still no success. So for my sanity'
sake.... Is there any way to stop the message?

"All 5 steps" were what?

Maybe try ToolsOptionsEdit and uncheck "ask to update links"

Can you go to EditLinks and change the source?

Zip files won't work means what?

Right-click and "extract all" is not available?

Maybe download Winzip and use that.
