How can I save a file as a template?

I would like to save an existing file as a template. I just got Excel 2007,
and it does not have an option for templates in the drop-down "Save As Type"
menu; there are only workbook options there. How can I add template to the
list of options?

I tried that. Neither gives me the option to save it as a template. All I
see are (Excel workbook, Excel macro-enabled workbook, Excel binary workbook,
Excel 97-2003 workbook, XML data, and Single file web page). Also, if I go
to "other" and try to prompt the extension .xlt, it just saves that as part
of the name of the workbook, rather than saving it as a template.

1.Click on the office button to open the drop down menu.
2.Choose the Save As option.
3.Choose the Other formats option.
4.Choose the Save As option to open the Save As dialog box.
5.Click on the Save as type option to open the drop down list.
6.Scroll through the list to find the template options.
7.Chose the Excel Macro Enabled Template (*.xltm) option
