Excel 2002 : How to avoid pasting incremental refrences ?
Dear Sir,
I need to copy Cell B1: C1 downwards until B12:C12 by clicking the bottom right corner of cell C2 after it has been pasted. However I noticed that P2 in column B begins to increase in a series instead of maintain as P2 up to cell B12. The same thing happen to date, month values if it in in the column This feature is useful for certain purpose at work , but I think it is more proper to make it functional under series fill f option instead of copying and pasting function. Currently the only way for me is to copy the original cells and highlight the entire block to paste instead of clicking at the bottom right corner of the cell of the source data Thanks Low -- A36B58K641 |

To stop the incrementing of P2 hold down the control key as you drage the
cells down (I assume you are dragging the cells but it is not entirely clear from your post). -- HTH... The bottom right corner of the cursor is known as the Fill Handle - it
acts like Edit | Fill in that you can drag it down to B12 and the data will be "filled", or you can double-click it if you have data in adjacent columns and it will be filled down to the bottom of the (contiguous) data. If the data is a constant with a number at the end, then Excel will increment this number as if you had used Edit | Fill - use of this facility is not the same as Copy/Paste. To avoid it incrementing then use Copy/Paste as you describe.
