Formula to find filename
 
Hi

I have a file path, say
C:\MY Files\Media\Test.doc

I am sure there is a excel cell formula which can return the name of the
file (ie "Test.doc") no matter how many directories or the lenght of the
address

any ideas

May be what you are looking for.

This will return "MyBook.xls"

what if the formula is reading a filepath in another cell ie I do not want
the file name of the existing file the formula is written in
