Cell will not accept data

I reopened my Excel2007 worksheet today to resume entering/changing data &
suddenly some of the cells will not accept anything. When I try, the cursor
immediately skips to the next cell.

I had not (intentionally) protected any cells or the worksheet before
closing it yesterday. What's up?
