COUNTA ----- FORMULA WILL NOT COUNT NON BLANK CELLS

when entering
=COUNTA(C9:C78) into a cell to count the non blank cells the formula is
displayed instead of the count.

Any suggestions as to how to resolve the problem would be appreciated

Hi

Sounds like the cell was preformatted as Text.
Format the cell as General, edit the formula with F2press Enter

Or if you only see formulas, make sure you're not looking at formulas:

Tools|Options|view tab|uncheck formulas
(xl2003's menu)
