perventing duplication of numbers on a spreadsheet

i am working on a spreadsheet ...that is very important that I don't
duplicate numbers... is there a something that i can do to provent this from
happening?

Use Data Validation .. assume Column A

Allow: Custom

Formula: =COUNTIF(A:A,A1)=1

apply to column or your range
