Default Check Register

I have check register in Excel 2003. I manually enter the next check number
when posting my checks. Can someone help me with a formula or whatever so
that a popup appears that lets me click it and the next number is entered
automatically?

Default Check Register

If it's only checks in your w/shet, why not just copy the check numbers down
(for your current check book)?

or select last check number, hold Ctrl and drag down?
