I am making a weekend schedule of duties and would like to avoid duplication
of persons for duties.

I believe you had a reply to a similar (same?) ealier posting. More details
are required about the organaisation/content of your schedule:

What are the duties?
How many people in the pool?
How many on duty together?
Time scale of duties ..
etc.
