Windows Vista - Excel 2007 - Excel 2003
Hiya,
I've upgraded to Vista, the problem is that when opening any WB with Excel 2003 created with Excel 2003 which incorporate a chart sheet, the chart does not show, nor do any command buttons on the chart sheet show, the chart sheet is just blank I've also installed Excel 2007, but the same problem occurs, Otherwise the WB works as it should in both Excel 2003 & 2007, the problem is just with Chart sheets. Does anyone know why? and whether this can be resolved. Regards, Laddie |

I am having the same problem. I have Vista and Excel 2007 on a new computer.
About half the time I get the same screen you've described, and half the time it opens normally. This happens whether I am opening a blank worksheet, or one already created in Excel 2007 or Excel 2003. Microsoft tech support does not have a clue. Neither does HP. Have you gotten any help on this? The first thing to check/try is making sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, monitor and printers. For your graphics card and monitor, you'll need to use Device Manager to check or update your your drivers. For your printers, you'll need to go through your installed printers in the Printers folder in Control Panel. |

I wouldn't take Windows word for it, in fact quite the opposite. I would
check out the manufacturer's site -- Regards, Peo Sjoblom "LaDdIe" wrote in message ... Thanks Harlan, Windows determins that the best driver software is already installed!, What a poop. We are having the same problem, even after updating the video drivers
to the most recent from the manufacturer. I definitely think it is an Excel problem. If you look closely at the top of the blank screen, you can see the bar that usually runs along the bottom of the window (with Ready in the left corner and the re-sizer in the right corner). If you right click on the entry for the file in the taskbar and choose "size" and resize it until it is very small, the tool bars that are usually on top will suddenly appear during the resize. You still don't see the data for the file, but you can now see in the top of the title bar that it thinks that the file is open. If you try to open the same file again, it tells you it is already open. It happens when you open a file in compatibility mode that was created in Excel 2003 or one that has been converted to Excel 2007 format. I haven't tried a file created native;y in the new format yet. But this really does not sound like video drivers at this point. Any other leads would be much appreciated. thanks, -Ronni The first thing to check/try is making sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card, monitor and printers. I, too, am seeing the dark gray "ready" window instead of Excel
normally opening up. It seem completely random. Sometimes it happens 5 times in a row, and then not for 5 times, etc. I have tried reinstalling Excel (Office 2007 "repair"), and tried eliminating all XLSTART items, to no avail. Are there any new ideas? |
