What does the "^" in Excel formulas do?
 

It is 'to the Power of'

2^2 = 4

3^2 = 9

3^3 = 27

etc.

The ^ symbol raises a number to a power.
=2^3 is =2*2*2 =8
=A1^B1 is equiivalent to =POWER(A1,B1)
