Is there any VBA that can carry out what the text import wizard does for a
tab delimited file? (.txt)

If so, can you provide the code and explain step by step what it does as i'm
still trying to grasp what does what!!

Execute the Excel facility with the macro recorder turned on, this will give
you the code.
