Formula bar height in XL2K3 w/XP
With multi-line text (Alt-Enter) in the Formula Bar, it automagically extends
the height of the bar. This interferes with column actions since the bar now obscures the column headings (A through ...). Painful when the 1st cell in a column is multi-line. Can this 'feature' be controlled? |

Have not heard of any setting that would prevent this. Work-around could be to enter a WindowSplit at say A5. Select your cell with the long formula in the lower part of the split window. The text in the formula bar would cover just the top part of the split window. Alternative.........reduce the size of the sheet window and move it down far enough to be below the extent of the formula bar. I know it's clunky but what else? If this bothers you mostly when you're selecting whole columns, maybe just

Looks like I'm stuck.
Your idea, Gord, helped in some cases. The specific anoyance is that the column-context menu can't activate when that area is obscured.
