WHY DOES COPING FROM SHEET TO SHEET INCREASE SIZE DRAMATICALLY?

Coping data from sheet to sheet increased the size of file 661kb to 4.32mb.
the amount data did not copy any formulas but raw data. The amount of data
was only about 50 rows and 26 columns. The original data had nearly 1600 rows
and lots of formulas and the file was only 661kb. What can be done if
anything?
