Default "Installing Components" in Excel 2003

Every so often, when I run Excel, I get a dialog that says it is "Installing
Components." When it finishes, I can use Excel normally, however, I'm never
told what was installed or why it was installed.

What causes this? Can I change this behavior?

Thanks!
