Preview in Open Dialogue
When I go to Open file in Word I can view a preview of the document or an
excel file but when i am in Excel and go to the open file dialogue and want to preview an excel file it does not show up. I cannot figure out how to turn on this same feature in Excel. Thanks in advance for any help! Juli |

In Excel, the workbook must have been saved with "Save Preview Picture" enabled.
Found in FilePropertiesSummary tab. Check that then save the workbook. Thanks for your response. I am using Excel 2007 and the summary tab has
"save thumbnail view for all excel files" and i have checked that and it does save a thumbnail view of the file after it has been opened and saved. A thumbnail view icon is not the same as a preview of the document. It is so weird because if you are in an open window of any kind you can turn on preview and preview the files but in the open dialogue of excel you cannot preview excel files but can word files. very weird. Guess I should ask which version of Excel before posting a response.
OR the poster could supply that info with the original posting, perhaps. I don't have 2007 installed.........yet! Gord On Thu, 31 May 2007 12:48:01 -0700, Juli wrote: Thanks for your response.
