Searching a linked database
Hello all,
I recently created a spreadsheet with well over 1,700 names in it. Information that was later added to this document is linked to another sheet. When I tried to do a search for these new names, however, I got a message reading that they don't exist. Excel cannot find the data is question. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to solve this problem? Thanks, --Giselle |
Searching a linked database
hi,
by default, excel only search the active sheet. linked data is not searched. I don't know what version excel you have and i forget when it was introduced (202 i think) but later version of excel have a search option on the find box to search the workbook and not just the sheet. if you don't have this option, then you are stuck with searching each sheet. if you don't have this option and want it, see this site... http://www.bmsltd.ie/MVP/ it has a free download called flexfind. (it has others too) flexfind is an addin utitity that will search the entire workbook. Regards FSt1 " wrote: Hello all, I recently created a spreadsheet with well over 1,700 names in it.
