I have text in one column that some cells contents flow to the next cell
since the adjacent column is blank. Is there a way to prevent the content
from flowing to the next column?

One way:

Put a space character in the adjacent cell.

That what I was trying to avoid. I have a huge spreadsheet.

Other way....................

Set the column to wrap text.
