How do I set the default comment format and view in Excel

I have a very large file containing several worksheets. Many of the cells
have comments which I don't want displayed all the time (only on mouse
rollover). I would like to set the default format and view for future
comments as well as discover a quick way to reformat all the existing ones
within the file.

Also, there seems to be an issue with some of the existing comments in the
file. When attempting to edit them, Excel can't seem to locate them. They
appear on mouse rollover, but the Edit Comment function does not allow you
into the comment box anymore. It doesn't happen on every cell with a
comment, only some of them.

See Debra Dalgleish's pages (contextures.com)

For second part, expect you have protection turned on
or something other than comment boxes.
