Default Mouse controls

Why does the wheel on my mouse sometimes, apparently randomly, scroll
left-right instead of up-down?

If it is a new wheel mouse they also now have lateral movement to the wheel,
don't know if that's the issue in your case

I'm not sure why either it does it either Mitch. Just letting you know that
I've experienced it too - so you don't start to worry about your mouse or
your sanity.

I thought it might happen when you scroll and hold down a certain key (Alt,
Shift etc.) - which would be quite a useful feature - but unfortunately
that's not it!

Cheers,
Peter

I solved the problem by:
1) having a workbook open that is experiencing the problem
2) going to StartControl PanelMouseWheelTroubleshooterNextNext[then
select Excel from the list].
It solved my problem, I hope it solves yours.

XP Home SP1 OS, Excel 97, MS Wheel Mouse PS/2 compatible

Start Control Panel Wheel Only scrolling number of row or one screen
per notch options, not Troubleshooter

What OS, XL version, Mouse are you using?

Regards

Sandy
