Unchanging cell question

I've never run into this before. I'm using Excel 2003. I have a column
of formulas, part of the formulas have absolute referencing and parts
don't (e.g.- =$b$8*b12). The first column of values is fine. If I drag
my column of formulas to the right, the values in the first column are
in the second, third, and so on. However, if I double-click in one of
the new cells and then hit enter, the new value appears. Can someone
direct me on what's going on and tell me how to stop this? Thanks

Dale

Hi Dale,
Is this a recalculation problem? What you describe is close
to F2 then Enter which would be reentering a value or formula.

Thanks, actually I was asking for a student of mine. I'm sure that is
the issue.
