I have made a "template" to use monthly, and every time I copy it to make a
new file, the information connects between the workbooks. So, any number I
put into "April 2007", automatically shows up in "EOM Template"! Please help!
It's driving me crazy!
Thank You So Much!!

What type of "template"?

Based on your description I would say a worksheet and you are just copying that
sheet to a new workbook.

If created and saved properly a template does not need to be copied.

New workbooks/worksheets are created based upon the template which never
changes.

Please define and post back with where the template is located and what type.

The template is actually just the name I chose for the file. I apologize!
Didn't mean to be confusing! =) I created an entire file with about 5
different worksheets, and I'd like to be able to keep that one blank, and
just be able to copy it at the beginning of every month to use for my monthly
reports. Sort of like a worksheet you'd photocopy. I guess, simply, I just
don't want my information to link between the blank worksheet and each
month's. Thank you so much for your time!! -Sara

Once you've created your new wb you should be able to goto Edit--Links and
point the wb back to itself. (If I'm reading the issue correctly)

I'm not sure who you were thanking - Gord or Smitty. The solution Smitty
offered should fix any existing linked workbooks you have. The
recommendation that Gord made is the way to actually fix the problem so it
doesn't occur again:

Take your clean copy (or make a clean copy), make sure it's not linked to
any other files, and use File | Save As and choose File Type of Template
(.xlt). From then on, use File | New and "from template on my computer" and
choose that template to create new files.
