How can I center text vertically in an autoshape textbox?

center text
Click on the border of the textbox, to select it
Choose FormatText Box, and on the Alignment tab, change the vertical setting. To change the vertical alignment while you're editing the text, you could add the Center Vertically button to one of your toolbars.
