Unhide columns
I am using Vs2007 and I'm having trouble unhiding columns.
I've clicked in the cell next to the hidden columns and selected FormatHide UnhideColumns Unhide and, I've highlighted the complete sheet and tried the same, without success. With another worksheet, I had to unhide some rows before the column unhide would work, but this sheet doesn't have any hidden rows. In any case I don't understand why that worked! The last column showing is AA. The next few columns have data and formulas and I can get to them by typing the ref in the Name Box. Rob |

I wasn't able to reproduce your difficulty. When you go to such a column
via the name box what does Format, column width show? If it's 0 will entering a 10 say widen the column? -- Jim "RobN" wrote in message ... |I am using Vs2007 and I'm having trouble unhiding columns. | | I've clicked in the cell next to the hidden columns and selected FormatHide | UnhideColumns Unhide and, I've highlighted the complete sheet and tried the | same, without success. | | With another worksheet, I had to unhide some rows before the column unhide | would work, but this sheet doesn't have any hidden rows. Unhide columns
Jim,
That's really odd. You've found the solution, but I have never made the column widths 0!!! I suspect that Vs2007 has done that somehow because ALL the hidden columns seem to be set to 0 and I NEVER set the column widths to 0, particularly if I'm going to hide them. Some points of interest I have discovered: 1. The hidden column widths only show as 0 if I open the older version .xls file in vs2007. 2. If I open the .xls using the previous version (xp), they are not 0 and can be unhidden in the normal manner. 3. If I convert the .xls file to .xlsm using the Convert feature, the column widths are no longer 0, and can be unhidden in the normal manner. 4. If I use the Save As function to save the .xls file to an .xlsm file, the hidden columns are 0 width. Following on from this, it seems to me that the Convert feature is the only way to convert older files to the 2007 version and that the Save As should only be used when changing an already 2007 version file to a different format, as per the list shown in the Save As box.
