Default Pie Chart Question

I am creating several pie charts from within the same spreadsheet, but on a
couple of them data that is 0 is coloring over the other portion of the chart
unless I use the very plain pie chart. If I try to use a "fancier" chart
then the whole pie becomes the color of the slice that should be 0. If I
break apart the pie the other slices are underneath the big circle that is
created. Any ideas as to why?
