Excel file downloaded and lost HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!

I downloaded an excel spreadsheet from my yahoo account. I worked on
it and worked on it saved and saved. In the end I never did a "save
as" I feel like an idiot because I can not find it. Is there anyway
to retreive this file?

You can do a Strat / search for the file name, or *.xls for all excel files,
or you could download another one, and note where it goes, it will probably
download to the same place as the first one.

Sometimes, you can click on File and see the last x number of files you've
worked on at the bottom of that dropdown.

You can increase the size of that list:
tools|options|General tab|check recently used file list and make it as large as
you can

Sometimes, you can see the last few windows documents you've worked on via:
Windows Start button|Documents

You may be able to find the document in your windows temporary internet files
folder(s).

I do this:
Start Internet explorer
Tools|Internet Options|General tab
Browsing History Section|Click settings
Then click View Files

sort by date (or extension or whatever helps you search for that .xls file)

Perhaps you can download another similar file and take careful note of
each step in the download process, and write down the destination
where your computer saves it by default...you will probably find your
document there in some weirdly labelled folder on the hard drive, or
maybe it is just in "My Downloads".

Hope that helps.

Maybe you can do a search of your hard disc looking for *.xls and
narrow the search down using the Advanced button to the day when you
worked on the file.

Hope this helps.
