Excel attachments hangs for one minute when opened in Outlook. It happens
while Outlook is performing the send/receive function. If I open an attachment at the same time it sends/receives, the send/receive function hangs -AND- Excel takes over a minute to open up. This happens with Word documents as well. It doesn't happen with .JPGs or text documents. Some would say, "don't open an attachment while Outlook is sending/receiving." I receive approximately 150 emails day (it's not because I'm popular), with most having Excel attachments. It's more efficient to read my emails while Outlook is performing it's normal function. I used to be able to do this without any problems. This only just started a couple of months ago. Another user on a non-related Microsoft thread is having the same issue. I use Microsoft Office 2003. I have tried the following to no avail: 1. Started computer in Safe Mode with Networking 2. Started Outlook in Safe mode and disabled COM add-ins 3. Created a new Outlook profile with a new .PST 4. Disabled Norton Internet Security 5. Detected and repaired Office 2003 Has anyone else experienced this issue? |

Yes. It was cause by the Indexing Service being enabled. Check Task Manager
for cisvc.exe. If running then kill process and check if the problem stops. If it does then turn off indexing services by Changing the start-up setting for the service to disable. If you don't belive me, then search web for cisvc.exe and look at all the problems people have found. "teenzbutler" wrote: Excel attachments hangs for one minute when opened in Outlook.
