Problem with Macro

Chuck,

Couple of things you can check;
Check under "Tools" "Option" tab "General" if you have anything filled in
under the "Alternate startup location". If you do, that is the file that will
start everytime you start excel. If you have a directory defined, excel will
start all files in that directory...

Second,
under "Tools", "Macro", "Visual Basic Editor" (or use Alt + F11) you can go
to the macro editor, or Visual Basic editor. Here you can see the files and
macro's that you currently have open. Make sure you select "View" "Project
Explorer" to see what is going on. In this explorer you can see the objects
(ie files) that are open, complete with the macro's that are attached to it.
In this explorer you can also drag macro's from one object to the next,
effectively copying the macro to the other files.

Good luck,.

Hi,

I don't know much about how macros are stored but I created one that does a
series of formatting to an excel file. I think it is stored as a file called
PERSONAL.XLS but I am not sure where. Anyway, one of the people I am helping
has somehow saved a file that they were working on in a way that when she
clicks on the microsoft Excel icon, this file automatically appears and the
filename is PERSONAL.XLS. Also, if she closes this file and then opens
target file that she wants to run the macro on and selects the macro command
(Control plus the letter q), nothing happens. Can someone help? I want to
restore the macro and do away with this other file that always appears when
Excel is opened.

Thanks
