I'd like to create an Excel spreadsheet that has only 10 rows and 6 columns
in it. That's all I want showing on the screen.

I can make it happen using 'hide' and 'unhide' rows and columns but it seems
very tedious and I have to think there's a better way. I am using Excel 2002.

A macro can set the scroll area, and no rows or columns will appear beyond.

Here are some tips you may already know. To expedite hiding rows and columns manually, you
can select the first column to be hidden (G) (click the G column header). Press
Ctrl-Shift-RightArrow (will select all the way to the last column). Right-click in the
selected area and choose Hide. Same for the rows.

You can save an empty workbook set up thus, and use it as a starting point for future such
workbooks. You can also set it up as a template (Save-As with Template selected in File Type
box). Then use File-New to start a new workbook based on this template.
