Excel places formula in wrong cell
I am having a problem where Excel is placing formulas in the wrong cell. Let
me explain. If I am on sheet 1 cell A1 and I enter into the formula bar = then I select a cell on sheet 2 so that the formula bar reads =Sheet2!A5 and I press enter nothing appears in cell A1 (the cell where I entered the formula) instead I will see a formula result in another cell. I have discovered that whatever the active cell is on the referenced sheet (in this case sheet2) is where this non-entered formula appears on the sheet where I enter the formula (in this case sheet1). Can someone help me figure out what is going on!!! |

Chris:
Your formula should look like this "=Sheet2!A5". Type this directly in the cell and see what happens.
