linking a whole worksheet
 

can anyone help? I am trying to link a whole worksheet, I have done a = and
pasted the reference from the source location but that only gives me a
specific cell from that source. I was hoping it would paste the whole
worksheet from the source, is this possible? I do not wish to use the embed
option and I do not want to paste a cell by cell reference, I need the entire
sheet or optionally an named/titled area, eg print area....

Select the source range and copy it. Select the first cell in the
destination range and then Edit, Paste Special and click the Paste Link
button.

Thanks Jim,

Unfortunately that means I have to highlight the area I need to copy, which
is only a problem because the range will alter. So if the source is currently
is at a1:b:10 it may be updated to included a higher range, say a1:z10. The
source will be ever changing. Plus it doesn't give the formatting which I
also require.

To achieve the same thing without selecting the source range you can do
this:

-Select the range on the destination sheet where you want linking formulas
placed.
-Enter a linking formula in the first cell to the source first cell, like
=Sheet2!A1
-Press Ctrl-Enter

Linking formulas never (well, almost never) carry formatting with them. To
get that you would have to do a regular paste or a Paste Special, Formats.
