Auto Filter Single Column

I want to be able to filter a single column in my spreadsheet. When I select
the cell and choose auto filter, it applies the filter to the entire row. Is
there a way to apply it to a single column?

Auto Filter Single Column

FIltering applies to the entire row because otherwise the rows would miss-align

Auto Filter Single Column

You could apply autofilter to a single column by clicking on the
column identifier to highlight the column, then Data | Filter |
Autofilter. If you do not require the entire column, just highlight
the range you want the filter to apply to (eg C3:C25) then Data |
Filter | Autofilter. The filter pull-down will now appear in C3.

Hope this helps.
