Microsoft Excel 1997. How do I sort a protected worksheet?
 

Hi all -

Thanks in advance for any replies.

I've made a very simple 'database' in the Excel program. There's no
formulas or hidden areas. I need the information within all cells to remain
protected, but I also need to allow others to sort the informaion by column
without unprotecting the worksheet.

I'm no expert to Excel, so a step by step process would be appreciated (if
there is a way to do this).

Unprotect the worksheet and then make it a read only document. Then others
will be able to sort but all info will be unchanged. If the need to save it,
they can rename the file and save it.

Thanks for the quick response! I just tried this out and it works
perfectly, although the illusion of being able to change data still disturbed
me, it will not save as the original file name.
